Building Fashion to Build Community: A Night of Style, Purpose, and Inclusion

On March 1, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh hosted its first ever Fashion Show: Building Fashion to Build Community, a one-of-a-kind event that blended style with service, proving that fashion can be a powerful tool for unity, empowerment, and advocacy. Planned and executed by a team of volunteers and led by Nyla Pichardo, volunteer coordinator and operations assistant.

This year’s event brought together an inspiring group of models of all ages from across the community, including students from Newburgh Free Academy (NFA) and Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC), members of the Boys & Girls Club, and some of Habitat Newburgh’s longtime staff and volunteers. These individuals graced the runway, showcasing not only inclusive and diverse fashion but also the spirit of collaboration and transformation that fuels Habitat Newburgh’s mission.

The energy in the room was electric as each model took the stage, representing the strength of our community—a community built on the belief that everyone deserves a safe and stable home. Attendees witnessed firsthand how Habitat Newburgh doesn’t just build houses; it builds confidence, opportunity, and connections that transcend traditional boundaries.

Thank you to our incredible partners, models, and supporters for making Building Fashion to Build Community an unforgettable experience.
