Nancy Layne moved to the City of Newburgh in 1979 and she and her family have been active participants in city life. She has worked professionally in the field of chemical dependency at various agencies in Newburgh and subsequently worked in the NYS Unified Court System as a drug court coordinator in Family Court, Newburgh City Court, Middletown City Court and Putnam County. She has also done adjunct work at SUNY Orange and SUNY New Paltz.

Since retiring, she has taken on several volunteer roles in the city and looks forward to working with Habitat. She has also begun exploring a variety of photographic genres and has exhibited her work locally. Her primary focus now is spending time with her children and grandchildren.
