Erika Tapia currently serves as the Director of Operations at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center, where she oversees daily operations and supports programs that enrich and empower the youth in the community. Her background spans operations and human resources, with a specialization in talent acquisition. Throughout her career, she has played an active role in employee retention, engagement, and community outreach efforts, reflecting her commitment to building strong, people-centered environments.

Born and raised in the City of Newburgh, Erika is a proud graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Class of 2008. Growing up, she witnessed firsthand the challenges of unstable housing and the lasting impact it can have on a child’s life. These experiences deeply connect her to the mission of Habitat for Humanity, leading her to volunteer with the organization and eventually join the Family Support Committee. She recently joined the Board of Directors, where she is committed to supporting initiatives that empower families and strengthen the community.

Erika lives in Newburgh, NY, with her husband and their two daughters. She enjoys volunteering alongside her family and hopes to instill in her daughters the same love for service and commitment to giving back that has shaped her own journey.
