Dear Habitat Newburgh Community,
This week is National Volunteer Week.
And although we are not building, our ReStore is closed, and we meet for Coffee Break virtually, we still want to thank YOU, our volunteers and supporters.
Not many things at Habitat Newburgh are "normal". When I pull up to our Headquarters at 125 Washington Street for a day at the office, I do not get the same feeling of excitement and energy that I normally do. I unlock the gate and open the door like usual. But inside it is dark, and it is cold, and it is quiet. It's the quiet that bothers me most.
Our office is usually a whirlwind of activity with families, volunteers, supporters, and those in need, visiting and calling. We are a collaborative group that laughs often and accomplishes so much. There are constant reminders of why and how we build. I love it. I miss it.
During these strange times, reminders of our "normal" have been coming to us in the form of notes, cards, calls, and emails. The words have been encouraging, hopeful, and of course, humorous. We can't thank you enough for taking the time to reach out to us, for lifting our spirits, and inspiring us to work harder.
Thank you for all you do to enable Habitat Newburgh to build homes, communities, and hope.
