132 Benkard Avenue

The 4th PresbyBuild house in the City of Newburgh, this early-1900's home has a great interior layout and features unique terrazzo flooring on the front porch, which we hope to preserve. Soon to be a restored 5-bedroom, 2 full bath home, 132 Benkard must first undergo extensive asbestos abatement, with full interior friable removals and exterior non-friable removal as well. In line with our commitment to healthy communities and environmental protection, Habitat Newburgh contracted asbestos abatement in accordance with proper NYS procedures. It is our hope that this project will be a model to other builders who might otherwise turn down restoration due to cost.

132 Benkard will soon be the home of Jaime and Jenny Salazar and thier 3 children. Completion is expected by the end of 2010. To volunteer to help build this house, click here.
